Chapter I is a nice introduction to the basics of Instrumentation Amplifiers. If first explains what an Instrumentation Amplifier is and how it differs from an Op Amp. Then it discusses some typical applications and the most important parameters.

Chapter II discusses the design options for building an Instrumentation Amplifier and their advantages and disadvantages.

Chapter III discusses several monolithic Instrumentation Amplifiers, but only those from Analog Devices are considered. Chapter IV discusses monolithic Difference Amplifiers, again only those from Analog Devices.

Chapter V provides some important practical hints and you should study it carefully before you start designing Instrumentation Amplifier circuits. Topics include single supply operation, decoupling, cable termination, ESD input protection, minimizing errors due to drift and thermocouple effects and proper usage of RF filters.

Chapter VI shows some applications for Instrumentation Amplifiers and Difference Amplifiers. A particular interesting one is the signal conditioning for an electrocardiogram (ECG).

Chapter VII recommends some A-D converters that are suitable partners for Instrumentation Amplifiers, but of course only those from Analog Devices are considered. For more information about ADCs, please see Analog-Digital Conversion by Kester.

Appendix A explains the parameters of instrumentation amplifiers, this is very useful if you want to fully understand an instrumentation amplifiers data sheet.
